The RFBerlin Network: Fostering research through collaboration
RFBerlin maintains a Network of Research Fellows and Affiliates to spark collaboration, advance new research, and connect academic findings with policymakers, practitioners, and the public.
RFBerlin Research Fellows are established scholars who have held their PhD for six or more years prior to joining the Network.
RFBerlin Research Affiliates are promising early-career researchers who have held their PhD for less than six years prior to joining the Network.
A list of current members of the RFBerlin Network is available on the RFBerlin website: List of Fellows and List of Affiliates.
Nomination and Selection Process
Admission to the RFBerlin Network takes place through an annual nomination and selection process. Current members of the RFBerlin Network are invited to nominate candidates for membership. Each member may nominate one candidate to be an RFBerlin Research Fellow and one candidate to be an RFBerlin Research Affiliate.
Following the nomination period, all candidates are reviewed by an internal selection committee. The committee considers the full pool of nominees and selects a limited number of candidates for admission to the Network, considering both the academic standing of the candidates and the contribution they could make to the intellectual life and activities of the RFBerlin Network.
Successful nominees are invited to join the RFBerlin Network, with new appointments taking effect following the completion of the annual selection process.
Term of Appointment and Renewal
RFBerlin Network Membership is granted for an initial term of four years. During their term, Research Fellows and Research Affiliates become part of the broader RFBerlin academic community and are encouraged to participate in and contribute to the Network’s intellectual activities and exchanges by submitting discussion papers and RFBerlin Research Insights, or participating in our events.
At the end of their four-year term, members are considered for renewal, based on the criteria outlined for the first appointment and their engagement with the Network during their term.
