About Abdurrahman Bekir Aydemir
Abdurrahman B. Aydemir is a Professor of Economics at Sabancı University. He previously served as a Senior Economist at Statistics Canada (2002–2007) and as a Research Associate at the Social Research and Demonstration Corporation (2001–2002). He received his Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Western Ontario in 2003.
Dr. Aydemir's research centers on immigration, education, and intergenerational mobility. His work has been published in leading international journals, including the Journal of the European Economic Association, Journal of Labor Economics, Review of Economics and Statistics, and European Economic Review.
He is a recipient of the Turkish Academy of Sciences Outstanding Young Scientist Award (2009) and has been awarded numerous research grants from both national and international institutions. His work has also received best paper awards at academic conferences. Dr. Aydemir has served as a consultant to the European Commission, the UN World Food Programme, and various national public institutions. He is currently a contributor and spokesperson on the economics of immigration, immigration policy, education, and intergenerational mobility for IZA World of Labor, and a Network Member of ENESET (European Network on Economics and Sociology in Education).
