About Alexander Willen
Alexander Willén is a Professor of Economics at the Norwegian School of Economics and serves on the Editorial Board of the Review of Economic Studies. He holds a PhD in Policy Analysis and Management from Cornell University. His research investigates how labor market power and institutions influence wage setting, skill acquisition, worker mobility, and migration. He is particularly interested in unions, employer power, and human capital development, with the broader aim of understanding how labor markets shape efficiency, equality, and the allocation of economic gains across workers, firms, and society.
