About Frédéric Docquier

Frédéric Docquier has been Deputy Director of the Luxembourg Institute of Socio-Economic Research (LISER) since September 2024. He joined LISER in 2019 as head of the Crossing Borders Transversal Program. He is a member of the Academy of Europe, the Institut Grand-Ducal de Luxembourg, and the Fondation IDEA. Previously, he was Professor of Economics at the Université catholique de Louvain and Research Associate of the FNRS (2005-19), Affiliate Professor at the University of Luxembourg (2021-24), and Associate Professor at the University of Lille (1997-2005). He holds a PhD in Economics from the Université d'Aix-Marseille. His research interests include the economics of migration, quantitative development theory, and economic growth. He acted as an external expert for the World Bank (member of the scientific committee of the World Development Report 2023), the United Nations (UNESCO and the High-Level Panel on the post-2015 Development Agenda) and the Agence Française de Développement.
