About Jan Marcus
Jan Marcus is a Professor of Applied Statistics at the Free University of Berlin. His research focuses on empirical questions in health and education economics, with a particular emphasis on evaluating public policies. He applies and advances statistical and econometric methods to identify causal effects and has a strong interest in improving the scientific process through replication and reproducibility, especially by promoting the use of replication code.
His work has been published in leading international journals such as the American Economic Journal: Economic Policy, Journal of Public Economics, Journal of Health Economics, and Journal of Human Resources. In 2018, he was awarded the German Economics Prize by the Joachim Herz Foundation in recognition of his contributions to empirical health economic research.
