About Jisoo Hwang

Jisoo Hwang is an Associate Professor of Economics at Seoul National University. She is an applied microeconomist whose research focuses on labor and family economics. Her work has been published in leading journals such as the Review of Economics and Statistics, Journal of Human Resources, Journal of Economic Dynamics and Control, Journal of Population Economics, and Demography. Much of her recent work uses data from South Korea to study issues such as low fertility, gender gaps in the labor market, and the impact of policies or life events on individuals’ education, career trajectories, family formation, and health outcomes. She received her Ph.D. in Economics at Harvard University in 2013, and her B.A. in Economics at Seoul National University in 2008.
