About Yuliya Kosyakova
I am Professor of Migration Research at the Otto-Friedrich-University Bamberg and Head of the Research Department Migration and International Labour Studies in the Institute for Employment Research (IAB), the Research Institute of the Federal Employment Agency, Nuremberg, Germany.
I am Co-PI of an DFG-funded project on the migration and integration of Ukrainian Refugees in Germany (SUARE), an elected Board Member and serve as a Secretary/Treasurer of the International Sociological Association (ISA) Research Committee on Social Stratification and Mobility (RC28), CReaM external research fellow, BIB fellow, and a 2023 Winner of the Raymond Boudon Award for Early Career Achievement in Sociology.
I am PI of the International Mobility Panel of Migrants in Germany (IPMa), Co-PI the IAB-BIBB/FREDA BAMF-SOEP Survey of Ukrainians, Co-PI the IAB-BAMF-SOEP Survey of Refugees, and Co-PI the IAB-BAMF-SOEP Survey of Refugees.
My current research interests include (wartime) migration, return and circular migration, immigrants’ economic disadvantage and integration, public policy effectiveness, stratification and inequality. My work is published in peer-review journals and books, and got attention by policy and media.
In 2024, I was recognized in the NZZ-Ranking of the most-cited economists in the German media (Place 82; 11. most-cited on labor market topics; 2. most-cited on migration topics). I was also recognized among the 100 most influential economist.
