About Leon Huetsch

Leon Huetsch is an Assistant Professor of Economics at the University of Lausanne. He earned his PhD from the University of Pennsylvania in 2024 and then spent one year as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Bonn. His research lies at the intersection of macroeconomics and labor economics and studies how structural change shapes labor market outcomes and inequality at the micro level.

His current work examines how automation affects young and old workers differently when firms face labor adjustment costs, how labor-market outside options shape fertility and women’s career choices, and how medical technology and health care reforms have contributed to rising life expectancy and inequality in health outcomes.
