Mariola Pytliková is a Senior Researcher at CERGE-EI Prague.
She received her PhD in Economics from ASB, Aarhus University, in 2006. In the past, she has held visiting positions at Princeton University, the University of Illinois at Chicago, the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, and Universitat Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona.
Her research interests are in labor economics, particularly in international migration, ethnic workforce diversity, the gender pay gap, and income inequality. More recently, her work has focused on migration determinants with a special emphasis on political and environmental factors, language, natives’ attitudes, and labor market laws. She has also investigated the impacts of immigrant diaspora networks and ethnic diversity on firm outcomes such as productivity, innovation, and foreign direct investment.
Mariola’s work has been published in outlets such as The Economic Journal, European Economic Review, Journal of Population Economics, International Migration Review, and European Journal of Population, among others. She is a recipient of the Kateřina Šmídková Award for the best Czech female economist (2015) and the Young Economist Award from the Czech Economic Society (2005).
