Claudia Goldin on Why Pay Transparency Alone Is Not Enough

The German weekly newspaper DIE ZEIT published an in-depth interview with Nobel laureate and RFBerlin Research Fellow Claudia Goldin following her visit to Berlin for RFBerlin Annual Public lecture with her talk “How Women Won”.
In the conversation, Goldin discussed the persistent gender pay gap, the structural disadvantages associated with part-time work, and the role of so-called “greedy jobs” that reward long, unpredictable working hours.

Drawing on decades of research, Goldin explained why conventional pay transparency measures may have unintended effects and emphasized that labor market structures and work organization are key drivers of gender inequality. The interview also refers to Goldin’s lecture at RFBerlin, where she highlighted long-term progress in women’s economic participation while underscoring the need for institutional reforms to support equality.

The full interview is available In German in DIE ZEIT.
