RFBerlin is pleased to welcome the Berlin Network of Labor Market Research (BeNA) for a lecture in its series on 5–6 October 2026, delivered by Xavier D’Haultfoeuille, Professor of Economics at CREST-ENSAE.

Professor D’Haultfoeuille has advanced the foundations of difference-in-differences estimation in complex research designs. In his forthcoming book with Clément de Chaisemartin, Causal Inference with Differences-in-Differences: Credible Answers to Hard Questions, he offers a rigorous, modern guide to difference-in-differences. His work has appeared in Econometrica, the American Economic Review, the Review of Economic Studies, and the Review of Economics and Statistics. Xavier also serves as Managing Editor of the Review of Economic Studies.

This lecture series will provide an in-depth introduction to modern methods of difference-in-differences estimation, combining both theoretical insights and empirical applications across classical, heterogeneous adoption, and general research designs. In addition to the lectures, the program will include a BAMS talk on linear regressions with combined data, and a slot of student presentations. Throughout the two days, attendees will be able to take office hours with Xavier.
