We at RFBerlin are seeking a highly motivated Research Assistant to support ongoing projects in labour economics. In this position you will work closely with researchers at the institute and contribute to several components of the research agenda.

Position Details
  • Schedule: Part-time with a flexible schedule
  • Hours: 10–20 hours per week, depending on mutual agreement
  • Compensation: €13.90/hour (subject to agreement)
  • Contract length: 3–9 months, depending on project needs
  • Location: presence in Berlin is an advantage; remote work may be considered in exceptional cases
  • Starting date: as soon as possible after the selection process has concluded

Main Job Responsibilities
  • Conducting literature searches to identify relevant journal articles in labour economics, with a particular focus on peer effects among coworkers (or other specified sub-fields)
  • Summarising the identified literature and its main findings in clear, concise written form, and preparing overview tables as needed
  • Extracting effect sizes and other key quantitative results from published studies and compiling them in a structured database
  • Identifying methodological and applied literature on publication bias and getting familiar with these methods
  • Using statistical software (e.g., Stata) to help implement analysis and compile results in tables and figures
Profile
  • Currently enrolled as a bachelor, master or PhD student in economics or statistics
  • Interest in research and data analysis
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks
  • Prior coursework or experience in labour economics, applied microeconometrics, or related fields (advantage)
  • Experience using statistical software and good coding skills in Stata, R and/or Python (advantage)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English (German optional)
