Li Zhang received his Ph.D. in Economics from The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) in 2024, and earned his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Economics from Renmin University of China (RUC).

He worked as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Centre for Research and Analysis of Migration (CReAM) at University College London (UCL), and in July 2025 joined RFBerlin as a Postdoctoral Fellow. From autumn 2026, he will take up a position as Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Business Administration, University of Macau.

His research interests include labour economics and development economics, with his current work focusing on migration, social mobility, and innovation.
