CReAM at RFBerlin – the Centre for Research and Analysis on Migration – produces, promotes, and disseminates empirical research on migration. It brings together the migration research carried out at RFBerlin.

CReAM serves as a knowledge hub on migration for public and policy audiences: we gather data on European and global migration, address key questions in the public debate, monitor research in the field, and synthesise evidence on the welfare of native and immigrant communities.

Directed by Prof. Christian Dustmann (University College London) and Prof. Tommaso Frattini (University of Milan).

Employment of Immigrants in the European Union: Progress, Persistent Gaps, and Untapped Potential

Employment among immigrants in the European Union has reached its highest level since 2017, yet important differences remain across origin groups, countries and demographic characteristics. While EU immigrants frequently match or exceed native employment rates across Member States, substantial employment disadvantages remain concentrated among non-EU immigrant women and highly educated non-EU immigrants, pointing to significant untapped labour market potential.

Employment of Migrants in the European Union

Employment in the EU has risen for all groups. EU migrants have the highest rates, non-EU migrants have improved but still lag, mainly due to lower employment among non-EU women, while men’s rates are similar across groups.
